Trappers to hold annual convention - Wednesday, July 1, 2009
ESCANABA—The U.P. Trappers Association convention is being held on July 17-18 in the Ruth Butler Building at the fairgrounds here.
There will be bargains on needed trapping supplies from about 20 nationally-known dealers and “how to” demos by top trappers and fur handlers. Lots to see and do for non-trappers, too: free fishing and prizes for the kids at the DNR Pocket Park; a craft demo for the ladies, quilt-making by a local quilting club; special raffles of fur hats, knives, artwork, a skinning machine, etc.; the ever-popular mini raffles; a wood carver and two special shows featuring live owls by Gayle and Randy Bruntjens from Raptor Rehab.
Admission is $2 each day for adults, with everyone 16 and under admitted free. This event is open to the public and runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST, both days.
For more information on the event, or to display your wares before hundreds of outdoorsmen (and outdoorswomen), contact Rick Arduin at (906) 498-2261, evenings or at (906) 498-7659, days. You can also visit the UPTA website at www.uptrappers.com and look in the Alert/News section for further details including the demo schedule, lodging information, and on-site camping.
