GYRC offering golf classes this month - Wednesday, June 10, 2009

CHICAUGON LAKE—Golf lessons are being offered this month to juniors and adult women beginning golfers at the George Young Recreational Complex.

They are being offered by Stuart Brown, the resident golf pro and coach of the Forest Park boys golf team, which recently won the Division 3 U.P. championship.

There are two junior golf clinics, and both will take place next week, June 15 through 19, with an hour-long lesson each day. Golfers from 8 to 12 years old will be taught from 6 to 7 p.m., and those 13 to 18 go from 7 to 8 p.m.

Each group is limited to five golfers. The cost is $80 per person.

The beginners’ class for adult women takes place June 22 to 26, with a one-hour session each day from 6 to 7 p.m. The group is limited to five people, and the cost is $80 per person.

Brown is also offering private lessons to anyone who wants to improve their game. One-hour lessons are $40 for adults and $25 for juniors. To learn more, call 906-221-3630.

Besides coaching the Trojans high school team, Brown has been a Nike golf and Marquette University golf clinic instructor and has taught golf in the Milwaukee area for the last 10 years. He was golf team captain at the University of Southern Mississippi and was recently nominated to the school’s hall of fame.
