Kids fishing event being held at Sunset Lake - Wednesday, June 10, 2009
IRON RIVER—It’s time to ‘take a kid fishing’ during the first ever fishing contest to be held Saturday, June 13, at Sunset Lake Park. The event is being sponsored by the Iron County Chamber of Commerce.
The contest is being held in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Free Fishing Weekend.
The contest will take place from 8 a.m. until noon. Refreshments will then be served, followed by the awarding of trophies and prizes. There will be three age categories for participants: 6 and under, 7-12 and 13-16. There is no fee to enter the contest, and participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Trophies will be awarded to the top anglers in each age category. Prizes to be awarded include a McDonald’s Lunch with a DNR Officer, fishing poles, tackle boxes, fishing equipment and gift certificates.
All state laws and rules must be followed.
