IRON RIVER — Nick Baumgartner, Iron River resident and 2022 US Olympic Gold Medalist, will be at the West Iron District Library (WIDL) on Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to share with the audience his continued story of triumph and to sell and sign copies of his recently published memoir, ‘Gold from Iron’.
Baumgartner made Olympic Games history in 2022 when he became the oldest Olympic snowboarder to ever win a gold medal. In his candid and heart-warming book released in January of this year, Nick shares the trials and triumphs of the 17 years it took to get to the Olympic podium in Beijing. From crisscrossing the globe on the racing circuit and competing in four Olympic Games, to his reflections as a single parent and his affection for Iron River, this book is sure to bring a tear to your eye and Yooper pride to your heart.
“The library has purchased copies for patrons to check out,” said Erika Sauter, Program Coordinator. “We, like the rest of Iron County, are so proud of Nick, and we are honored to host this book signing event to help him share his accomplishments with his community.”
Attendees will enjoy a short presentation from Nick at 11 a.m. followed by a Q&A, book signing, and time for photos and refreshments. Copies of Nick’s book will be available for purchase, but copies can also be purchased in advance from retailers like Amazon, Walmart and Barnes & Noble. The event is free to attend, and you do not have to have a library card.
