IRON RIVER—Several members of West Iron County’s boys tennis team have been voted to the all-U.P. Division 2 team by the U.P. Tennis Coaches Association.

IRON COUNTY—Forest Park’s Derek Aberly and West Iron’s Cody Desjardins will be representing Iron County this month in the U.P. Football All-Star Game, which will be played at the Superior Dome here on Saturday, June 29.

NORWAY—Iron County’s high school track teams dominated the results sheet during the Norway JV Invitational, held here on May 28.

IRON RIVER—Austin Waara tied for runner-up medalist honors and led West Iron’s boys golf team to a tie for fourth place at the Division 2 U.P. Finals, held at Norway’s Oak Crest course on May 29.

CRYSTAL FALLS—Forest Park’s Lexi Gussert led her Lady Trojan team again on May 29 at the Division 3 girls golf U.P. State Finals.

IRON RIVER—The Iron County Little League will feature all four of its teams in a doubleheader planned this Friday, June 14, at Bachman Park here.

The Wykon girls have had big days at past U.P. Finals, finishing runner-up in both 2010 and ’11, but this time they took home the school’s first championship trophy.

IRON RIVER—After a one-year break, West Iron’s boys tennis team left few doubts May 30, winning the Division 2 U.P. championship at Westwood High School.

KINGSFORD—Forest Park’s girls track team finished in third place and the boys came in 10th during the Division 3 U.P. Finals tournament, held at Flivver Field here June 1.
