IRON RIVER - Saturday, May 4, 60 Community Christian Women from Iron County gathered at First Baptist Church in Iron River for a Purse party. They were treated to a brunch and inspirational testimony on prayer by Jeannie Holm. They brought with them, and others donated as well, gently used purses.
About 100 plus purses were then filled with personal items such as shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, hygiene items, etc. They were all donated to the Caring House in Iron Mountain.
Donna Fayas-Johnson and Marita Post from the Caring House were on hand to tell what the Caring House does for women. Each woman who comes to the Caring House receives a purse filled with these items just for them.
Carla Thoune said a Prayer of Blessing on those who donated the purses and those who donated items to fill them as well as for those who will receive them. Fayas-Johnson and Post were over-whelmed by the generous donations and stated the women who receive these purses will be over-joyed.
