IRON RIVER — Bonnie Jo Campbell, a finalist for the National Book Award and best-selling author, will be making a stop on her book tour at the West Iron District Library Thursday, July 18 at 1 p.m. The Friends of the West Iron District Library will be hosting a meet and greet with Campbell that will include a free light lunch.

Campbell resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She has written several short stories as well as three novels including ‘Q Road’, bestseller ‘Once Upon a River’ and most recently, ‘The Waters’. Copies of her books will be available for sale, and she will give a short presentation on her most recent novel.

“We are honored to host this incredible Michigan author,” said Erika Sauter, Library Program Coordinator. “There are several of Bonnie Jo Campbell’s novels in our collection, and we can’t wait to hear about her latest release!”
‘The Waters’ is a spellbinding and brutal story about an aging herbalist, Hermine “Herself” Zook, and her granddaughter, who live in a cottage on a marshland island in a farming township in rural Michigan. The farmers, like the herbalist, struggle to find balance in the modern world.

Attendees can expect to hear a short presentation on Campbell’s new book followed by a meet and greet with the author and free light lunch. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase. Admission is free and is open to the community. A library card is not needed to attend, and registration is not required. Free refreshments will be offered following the program.

This project is funded in part by the Friends of the WIDL, the WIDL, Michigan Humanities, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Michigan Arts and Culture Council.
