The St Anne Society of St Cecilia Catholic Parish recently held a Wine to Water (WTW) Filter Build® inconjunction with its monthly May meeting.
Filter builds are hands-on, socially responsible experiences for companies and organizations to assemble filters and make their own strides in alleviating the world’s water crisis. A single water filter serves 11 people for 10 years with clean water by easily filtering dirty, contaminated water. These filters help communities all over the world, including the United States, where there has been devastation due to floods, hurricanes and other natural disasters. This build was made possible through Thrivent, who supplied the kits to requesting members during National Volunteer Week in April. These volunteers helped assemble 8,100 filters, impacting over 97,000 lives. Since 2004, WTW has helped nearly 1.67 million people in 52 countries gain access to clean drinking water.
