Businesses and community invited to participate in Small Business Saturday

CASPIAN – This year marks the 12th annual National Small Business Saturday: a movement to raise awareness about the importance of shopping local that takes place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The “Shop Small” promotion was started by American Express in 2010 in an effort to help small businesses gain exposure and inspire consumers to shop within their own communities – especially during the holiday season.
This year Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 26 and Iron County businesses are again invited to participate by being open and offering special sales or discounts for that day. Community members can participate by getting out, shopping and enjoying what our small businesses have to offer. 
The Iron County Museum is teaming up with the Crystal Falls Business Association and Iron County Economic Chamber Alliance to offer a Small Business Saturday event that includes hospitality stations with printed lists of local deals and discounts, and free “Shop Small” swag. These stations will be open starting at 9 a.m. Nov. 26 and located at the Museum in the Bernhardt Cultural Center in Caspian and at Buddha Bean Coffee in Crystal Falls. 
“At the Museum, shoppers can also enjoy the kick-off to the Christmas Tree Galleria with free treats and coffee, our gift basket raffle and enjoy more than 30 beautifully decorated trees,” said Erika Sauter, Museum Director. 
“Buddha Bean is offering free brewed coffee and 10% off all other menu items,” said Kimberly Spigarelli, owner. “We hope folks will stop in, grab some ‘Shop Small’ gear and enjoy a breakfast bagel or bakery item to get their day of shopping started!” 
Any local business can submit information on their special deals for Small Business Saturday to erika@ironcountymuseum.org, cfbami@gmail.com or brett@iron.org by Nov. 21 to be included on the printed list for shoppers.
