CRYSTAL FALLS — The Crystal Falls District Community Library has an array of events slated for this summer, catering to a wide swath of age groups and areas of interest.
On Friday, June 25 at 10 a.m., children’s author Ben Feldhausen will read his book “Beast from the Boondox” and discuss its creation. His talk will coordinate with the Tails and Tales program for children 5-8 years old who will be creating their name using ‘beast letters.’
On Wednesday, June 30 at 10 a.m., local birdwatcher James M. Jackson will give a talk about birdwatching and share his photos from international birding trips.
Later that day, at 1 p.m., Phyllis Carlson will bring her great-horned owl, Journey, for a discussion on owls. Her visit will coordinate with the Tails and Tales program for children 9-12 years old who will be learning about owls and dissecting owl pellets that week.  
On Friday, July 9 at 5:30 p.m., Jackson, who is also a mystery author, will give a talk about how mysteries have crossed over into other writing genres. Many of James’ mysteries are set in Amasa. There will also be a Crossover Classical Concert at Crystal Theatre at 7 p.m. following the event.
    On Wednesday, July 14 at 10 a.m., Stephanie Ackles will present on how to care for backyard animals such as chickens, as well as how to support pollinators like bees and bats.
On Wednesday, July 21 at 10 a.m., “Career Dogs” will feature Communities that Care Prevention Coordinator Ben Ryan. Ryan will bring his dog Jasper to discuss Jasper’s training and the jobs the dog performs.
On Saturday, July 24 at 10 a.m., Apple Blossom Clinic’s Dr. Cheryl Matuszewski and Kelly Dvorak will discuss what it’s like being a veterinarian.
The CFDCL’s annual book sale and outdoor concert will be held on Friday, July 30 from 4-6:30 p.m. Marquette Musicians Troy Graham and Colton Ort will perform a concert in the pocket park of the library, as patrons shop for gently used books and materials.  Graham’s book and CDs will be available for purchase.
On Saturday, July 31 at 2:30 p.m., the library will host a Q&A session with Tim Warmanen. Warmanen is the writer, producer and editor of the documentary “The Humongous Fungus Among Us.” The film will show at the Crystal Theatre the same day with showtimes at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
