Crystal Theatre showcases local talent

CRYSTAL FALLS — Crystal Theatre is continuing its monthly series featuring local artists during the September installation of its Third Thursday series.
The theater’s Sept. 16 performance will feature Hicks With Picks and the Foucalt Brothers. 

The members of Hicks With Picks all hail from Iron River. The band has been performing Yooperbilly covers of bluegrass, folk and rock classics for Northwoods audiences since 2008. All three “hicks” contribute vocals to the harmony. Marc Ralston plays bass, Jeff Dohl and Jack Hudson play 6-string guitar; Dohl also plays banjitar. 

The acoustic-oriented Foucalt brother duo are known for putting their own homespun spin on classic musical favorites. They present an organic blend with tasteful interpretations of old time and contemporary songs. Roy Foucalt plays lead guitar and elder brother Paul Foucalt usually takes lead on vocals while playing guitar and resonator (“dobro”) guitar. The style fits the label “Americana” as they move smoothly between a wide variety of music from classic country tunes to jazzy ’40s classics. 

Tickets can be purchased at the door. Cost is $10 for general admission, $5 for students.  

Third Thursday will continue through October before returning in January 2022, taking a break over the hunting and holiday season.
