IRON RIVER — Dan Fitzpatrick, commander of the Sons of the American Legion Squad #21 in Iron River/Stambaugh, was recently awarded the National Commanders Recruitment award and pin.

“Commander Fitzpatrick has been instrumental in promoting the ideals and programs that make the Sons of the American Legion what it is today, said John Pickard, 5th Zone Commander of the Sons of the American Legion.

Pickard said that National Commander Clint Bolt has a goal of 400,000 members this year and Fitzpatrick’s efforts are contributing to the efforts to reach that goal.

“Clearly, receiving this award is a very special occasion,” Pickard added.

“It is also a very special occasion for the Iron River/Stambaugh Squadron since it is a testimony of his loyalty to the Sons of The American Legion.”
