CRYSTAL FALLS — After the pandemic prompted a totally virtual auction last year, participants at the 2021 Fortune Lake Camp Fall Fest can choose from two formats this year: They can bid onsite in person on Oct. 2, or online in a silent auction from Sept. 22 through Oct. 2.
The “live” Fall Fest will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium with quilt-viewing and shopping for smaller handmade items in the corner country store.
A continental breakfast will be served by donation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the dining hall and homemade bakery will be sold on the deck.
At 11:00, 30 juried quilts and other original creations will be auctioned off, led by returning auctioneer Pastor Cori Johnson. The auction will conclude with a drawing for specialty items offered in a draffle format.
More than 60 additional quilts of various sizes will be presented online in a silent virtual auction format from Sept. 22 through Oct. 2. Registration for the virtual event can be accessed through a link on fortunelake.org. All of the auction items--both live and virtual--can also be previewed there.
“We are so excited for the return of a live component of Fall Fest to Fortune Lake,” said Camp Director Amanda Rasner. “Additional Covid protocol will help keep the event safe as we welcome back people at the peak of the fall color season. Come for the morning and leave with some tasty baked goods, a gorgeous quilt, and a smile on your face, knowing that you’re supporting our outdoor ministry site in our biggest fundraiser of the year!”
Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp is located three miles west of Crystal Falls on U.S. Highway 2.
