IRON RIVER — The Iron County Golden K met for its regular meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at the Iron River Senior Center.
Wendy Highland, who is a childcare licensing consultant, was a guest speaker. She explained to the group that she is one of three consultants in the Upper Peninsula and her job is to ensure the health and safety of children.
Golden K member Gary Lopez then informed the crowd that the baked potato bar that was held for the Beechwood Historical Society had a good showing with about 75-100 people attending.
He also reminded everyone that Banquet Night would be on Wednesday, April 20 at Alice’s at 5p.m.
The discussion then switched to scholarships. The Golden K will be awarding five scholarships for Iron River and three for Crystal Falls students. Decisions on the winners will be made soon.
Highway pickup will also be happening in May, weather permitting.
The last item of business was the Amvets pancake breakfast, which will be happening at the end of the month at the Beechwood Hall from 7-11a.m. All are invited to attend.
