IRON RIVER – The Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) was recently awarded a $500,000 four-county grant from the Michigan Housing Opportunities Promoting Energy Efficiency (MI-HOPE) program, via Michigan State Housing Authority (MSHDA).
MI-HOPE is a federally funded program using U.S. Department of Treasury American Rescue Plan (ARP) Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF). WUPPDR is administering funds mainly for roof repairs or replacements, windows, insulation, furnace repair or replacement and water heater repair or replacements for single family owner occupied homes in Baraga, Houghton, Iron and Keweenaw Counties.
Interested Iron County residents can apply for these funds (or to see if you qualify) via the link below: https://www.wuppdr.org/housing
If an interested Iron County resident would like to apply for these funds but doesn’t have internet access or would like help submitting an application, representatives from WUPPDR will be in Iron County on Jan. 5 and will hold two application assistance sessions, one at the West Iron District Library in Iron River and another at the Crystal Falls District Community Library in Crystal Falls. Both sessions will be from 1-3 p.m.
