FLORENCE, Wis. — The newly formed Wild Rivers Quilt Guild is inviting all area quilters and interested persons to join its first meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 5:30-7 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Florence

“We are a group of quilters who wish to learn about, preserve, and encourage the art of quilt making; promote a gathering of like-minded folks in a fun and relaxed environment; provide education and instruction for guild members and visitors in the history, design, and techniques of quilt making,” said Jackie Lehto, the guild’s secretary.

At its inaugural meeting, the Wild Rivers Quilt Guild will introduce officers, accept new members, review the Guild Guidelines, elect one member-at-large to serve on the Leadership Committee and appoint a Program Committee.

There will also be a “show and tell” of quilts recently made by attendees and time for attendees to ask for advice on problems or design help with quilts they may be working on.

Lehto will present a demonstration on how to make the Dresden Plate Quilt Block. All attendees will receive a free pattern for the Dresden Sunflower Wall Hanging made with a Dresden Plate Quilt Block.

Membership is open to all persons, high school-age and older, interested in quilting. Annual dues are $25 per year, $15 annually for high school students.
Regular meetings will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on the fourth Tuesday of every month, except in November and December.

Guild meetings will consist of a variety of informative programs and sharing. Other activities may include day-long or weekend retreats, workshops, quilting workdays and charity efforts.
