IRON RIVER — Motivational speaker Reggie Dabbs spoke to elementary, middle and high school students of the West Iron County School District on April 7 during three separate school assemblies.
Dabbs, an author and saxophone player, spoke with students about being given up by his birth mother. He was adopted by his birth mother’s English teacher and the teacher’s husband, who worked as the school custodian.
Dabbs told students that life is full of ups and downs, likening it to a roller coaster, and encouraged them to stay on the ride.
This was not Dabbs’ first trip to WIC. Four years ago, WIC was his last stop on a tour of events in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan with Youth Alive and the “Every Student Matters” program.
Dabbs is the author of several books, including “Reggie: You Can’t Change Your Past, But You Can Change Your Future” and “Just Keep Breathing.”
Dabbs used humor, music and his inspirational story to bring hope to the students, teachers and staff that it does not matter what happens to you in life, there is always hope for your future.
