IRON RIVER – Grace Covenant Church held its annual Trunk or Treat event for the community on Monday, Oct. 31.
“What a great community event! This is a friendly outreach for the community that is always lots of fun!” said Sue Omdahl of Grace Covenant Church. She and a handful of others from the church volunteered their time in setting up, running and cleaning up this event.
What is Trunk or Treat you ask? Trunk or Treat is when a group of people get together to have a tailgating format of trick or treating. Grace Covenant Church is an annual host for this community event. The Church provides a general location in its parking lot for participants to park a decorated car. The drivers dress up and hand out candy from their open trunks to the community trick or treaters.
This year the church had 15 cars that were decorated, with approximately 1,500 people that came through the parking lot and 565 were children that trick or treated.
Along with candy and goodies, the church had a station set up that served popcorn, hot cocoa and coffee to all that passed through.
Two fire pits were also set out to offer warmth and a place to connect with other community members. Overall the event was a fun and safe evening for everyone.
