IRON RIVER — The West Iron District Library will offer its Summer Reading Club from June through August. Facilitator Bonnie Wilgreen will lead a discussion of a different novel each month. Each meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the J. Patrick White Conference Room.
On Thursday, June 24, the novel under discussion will be “The Dutch House” by Ann Patchett. The novel covers five decades, telling the story of the strong bond between two siblings and their attachment to their childhood home and the past which seems to consume them.
On Thursday, July 22, the discussion will focus on “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” by Kim Richardson.  This work of historical fiction is based on President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project during the 1930s and the true blue-skinned people of Kentucky.
The final meeting will take place on Thursday, Aug. 19, when the selection under discussion will be “The Aviator’s Wife” by Melanie Benjamin.  This work explores the marriage between Anne Morrow and Charles Lindberg with its triumphs, disappointments and tragedies.
The public is invited to attend any or all the discussions.  Multiple copies of each novel are available to check out at the library’s front desk.
The library will follow any Covid protocols required by the state at the time of meeting.
