Catch some community fun at Bass Fest

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Crystal Falls Lions Club is once again sponsoring the 59th Annual Bass Festival. This long-standing event is set for July 5-7.

This is one community event that you won’t want to miss, as it is filled with fun activities such as kid’s games, delicious food and live music.

Thursday, July 4 Bingo at Masonic Lodge, 815 Crystal Ave. Doors open 5 p.m., games start at 6 p.m.

Friday, July 5 the Finn vs Pollack softball games will take place. The women’s game will start at 6 p.m. with men’s to follow, approximately at 8 p.m.

Saturday, July 6 the Bass Festival parade makes its way down Superior Avenue at 10 a.m. Registration and line up is at 9 a.m. at the Forest Park Schools. There will be a Kid’s Bounce House all day.

The canoe race down the Paint River will take place after the parade. Registration is at 11 a.m. and will start at the CF Power Plant and end at the bridge at the bottom of Superior Avenue. 

At noon starts the Chicken BBQ – first come first serve will be held at Runkle Lake Park. 50/50 Raffle tickets will be available both Saturday and Sunday. There will be concessions from noon to 6:30 p.m. available (food and refreshments). Also from 1 - 6 p.m. there will be music by Lovin’ Country. The volleyball tournament will begin at 1 p.m. with registration taking place at 12:30 p.m. at the Lion’s Den. At 7:30 p.m. the Wop vs Swede softball game will begin.

Sunday, July 7 the day starts off with the VFW Breakfast at 108 Superior Avenue from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be a Kid’s Bounce House all day. Run your Bass Off 10K/Half Bass/2 Mile Walk/Kids Run is scheduled for 9 a.m. Music by Melanie Rose will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The baby contest and concessions will begin at noon, followed by volleyball and horseshoe tournaments at 1 p.m. (register for horseshoe at 12:30 p.m.) and kid’s games at 2 p.m. There will be music by Larry Ketola from 2 - 5 p.m.

Winners will be announced for the fishing contest at Runkle Lake Pavilion at 3 p.m. Raffle drawings will take place at 6 p.m. and the 59th annual Bass Festival will conclude at 7 p.m.

The annual fishing contest will be sponsored by Superior Sport and Feed. Registration will be available at the shop in Crystal Falls during business hours. Fish must be caught on an Iron County Lake.
