Christmas comes early from a golden heart

When Daphne Papatriantafyllou turned 7 on Oct. 7, her golden birthday, she said it would warm her heart if people coming to her birthday party would bring donations for the Northwoods Animal Shelter instead of presents for her. Her friends and family were very generous with pet gifts, and also brought her birthday gifts. On Nov. 25, she brought bags of food, toys and other pet supplies to the shelter, and then took some time to play with the dogs and cats with her sister Phoebe, mom and dad, Fawn and Andrew.
