MSA recognizes local life-saving efforts

Sheriff Mark Valesano presented Deputy Mike Mansell and Forest Park Track Coach Kurt Anderson each with a Lifesaving Award from the Michigan Sheriff’s Association during the Iron County Board of Commissioners meeting on July 13. When Forest Park junior Greydon Fischer dropped to the ground after suffering a seizure at track practice April 12, Anderson was at the scene. Mansell responded to a 911 call and arrived minutes later. He and Anderson administered life-saving assistance to Fischer, including CPR, before he was transported to Aspirus Iron River.
