West Iron County pre-K teacher Denise Maloney asked her students and their families, “Do you want to build a snowman?” The event took place at the Iron River Care Center on March 7. It was a sunny Sunday at the nursing home and Annie Johnson, Iron River Care Center activity coordinator, made sure residents were lined up along the slightly opened windows to watch the snowman building and listen to the chattering of the children. Maloney’s young students call the residents their “Forever Friends” and many also call them grandpa or grandma. The snowman lined the back-garden area so that residents could easily see them from inside as a reminder of the kids that came to bring them some joy. Pre-K teacher Denise Maloney helped build a snowman with sisters Valerie and Vivian Allen while Christopher Whear and his dad Tommy added final touches to their snow-creation. (photos by Janet Rohde)
