CASPIAN — The Iron County Historical Museum will host the second in its series of “History Happy Hour” events from 6-8 p.m. on July 30.
This month’s program will feature Daniel Truckey, director/curator of the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, who will present “Polar Bears: Forgotten Heroes of the Russian Invasion of WWI.”
“There were several soldiers from the U.P. that participated in the Russian expedition,” said Museum Director Erika Sauter. “Folks can look forward to learning something new while enjoying food and drinks served from Toti’s Tavern right here on our museum grounds.”
A $5 admission fee will be collected at the door. Drinks and appetizers, including beer from Alpha Michigan Brewing Company, will be available for purchase. RSVPs are encouraged so food plans can be made accordingly. The presentation will take place in the museum’s Cultural Center to accommodate a crowd and allow for spaced seating.
Details are also in place for the August History Happy Hour. On August 27, owners and curators of Earthaven Museum, Mike and Ruth Reisch, will speak about the “10 Most Important Minerals Mined in the U.S.” and will bring some of their most jaw-dropping samples to show and tell.
The July event is sponsored by Peninsula Title Agency, The Miners State Bank and The Pasty Corner. To learn more and RSVP call 265-2617 or email Erika@ironcountymuseum.org.
