The West Iron County Schools completed their local spelling bee competition and the grade level winners were sent to compete at the regional finals on Feb. 16 held at the Ewen Trout Creek Schools against other schools located in the Western U.P. region.  The West Iron Schools were represented by Lydia Anderson - 5th Grade, Calyn Jukkala - sixth grade, Lacey Mattson – seventh grade and Elizabeth Holm – eighth grade for the regional finals. At the Regional competition, Lydia Anderson took first place in fifth grade and Lacey Mattson took first place in seventh grade.  These two students will be going to compete at the U.P. Spelling Bee Finals to be held on March 9 at the Negaunee/Ishpeming schools. Congratulations to all of these students for their accomplishment. Good Luck to Lydia and Lacey at the U.P. Spelling Bee Finals.
