The iconic Angeli’s sign was taken down Tuesday, May 3 following the sale of the business.

Angeli Foods closed its doors for the final time Sunday, May 1. The last customer, Abby Micola purchased the final item, a box of crayons, at 8:03 p.m.

Cory Saigh, Angeli Foods assistant front-end manager, was given the sign’s “A” as a memorial.

The Angeli family began its century long community business on the family farm near Iron Lake as a delivery service of fresh ground beef. It eventually would grow to become the local grocery store Iron River has known for 105 years.
