FLORENCE, Wis. — The popular annual Plant Sale by the Glacial Gardeners will be held Saturday, May 28 from 9 a.m. to Noon at the Florence County Fairgrounds on County Road N, just south of Florence.
The event will take place rain or shine. A wide variety of vegetables, annuals, houseplants and perennials as well as a table of eclectic rummage sale goods will be available.
New this year, the club will be offering pre-ordering of unusual fall bulbs at great prices. Each variety will be available in small trial bags of 5-10 or in bulk for even more savings. Many deer-resistant types have been selected, and club gardeners can steer buyers to the least delicious to pesky friends.
Proceeds from the sale fund the Inga Fleming Memorial Scholarship which is awarded annually to local students majoring in horticulture or related sciences.
To date, Glacial Gardeners have awarded over $25,000 in scholarships.
Glacial Gardeners are a Wisconsin Volunteer Association and work in conjunction with UW-Extension. They are involved in many projects in local communities and with schools.
