CRYSTAL FALLS – Crystal Theatre welcomes Kelly Jackson to the stage Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.  Jackson is an international award-winning Native American singer, songwriter, philanthropist, and tribal advocate.
A tribal member of the Lac du Flambeau Band, Jackson composes rhythms that compliment her native roots and lyrical messages that invoke healing self-empowerment and cultural reflection.  Called Native Americana, the genre has roots in folk, jazz, blues, country, hip/hop and rock all infused with native influences. She has shared a stage with some of the greatest: Indigo Girls, Wade Fernandez and Bill Miller.
Jackson’s debut album, Spirit of a Woman, earned a National Agri-Marketing Association award for best Americana Album of the Year; Renditions of the Soul also received international recognition. Her hit single, “Wake Up” was nominated for the 2017 Native American Music Awards. Another single, “After All This Time,” earned the top spot on XM World and Indigenous Music Countdowns.
In addition to her work in music, Jackson is co-founder of Spirit of a Woman, a nonprofit designed to provide personal and professional guidance for women and girls.  Jackson and her colleague Danielle Yancey launched indigenous Girls Rock Camp, a seven-day music camp for girls ages 8-18 with unique programming that combines music education, performance and leadership development. Girls learn to play an instrument, form a band, write an original song and perform a live concert.
Jackson’s edgy and soulful pieces have been performed across the U.S., Canada and Europe.
For the Crystal Theatre concert, Jackson will be joined by other musicians on bass, drums, guitar, keys, flute and vocals.
Advanced tickets may be purchased at Ben Franklin, The Twisted Twig and Crystal Theatre’s Stage Left in Crystal Falls, the Iron County Chamber Office in Iron River, The Music Tree in Iron Mountain, online at thecrystaltheatre.org, or by calling 906-875-3208.
