IRON RIVER – The Iron Area Health Foundation board met on Monday, Nov.  7 and discussed their goals the coming year.
One of the Foundation’s main focuses for the 2023 calendar year will be “Mental Well Being and Resiliency” for Iron County residents of all ages.
To address this focus the Iron Area Health Foundation will coordinate a meeting with representatives from the ASPIRUS Healthcare System, Dickinson Iron Health Department, local mental health support agencies and the local schools.
As a collective group the goal will be to develop a sustainable plan providing a series of Forums on Mental Health to the area residents and to provide a series of educational presentations and speakers on anxiety, depression and suicide prevention to students at the local schools. This is planned to begin during the winter of 2023.
The Foundation board members also discussed fundraisers for the 2023 calendar year. The board approved two fundraisers. The first will be a four person, thirty-six team golf scramble to be held on Sunday, June 4 at Young’s Recreational Complex.
The second fundraiser will be a county wide “Tailgate” party on Saturday, Aug. 19 at Young’s Recreational Complex.  The “Tailgate” fundraiser is hoping to have a theme of “Meet the Wykons” and “Meet the Trojans” which will have in attendance and recognize fall athletes, cheerleaders and band members from both schools.
There will be raffles, food, drinks and music during the “Tailgate” fundraiser.
