IRON RIVER — The Iron County Road Commission held a special meeting on Dec. 28, 2022 to approve amendments to the proposed 2023 budget. The budget includes operating expenses as well as line-by-line expenditures for the coming year, itemized by projects slated to be worked on or completed, as well as routine maintenance.
The Equipment Committee recommended the purchase of a new truck chassis. Three vendors submitted bids, and the board members voted to award the bid to U.P. International Trucks of Iron Mountain. The new chassis is a 2024 International HX520 and will cost $156,600.
At the recommendation of Superintendent Tomasoski, the Commissioners also discussed increasing the wages of non-union workers to match the wages of union workers.
