IRON COUNTY – The Iron Area Health Foundation is sponsoring multiple presentations of “Do It For Daniel” for secondary students at both West Iron County and Forest Park and an evening presentation for community members during the month of February.
Jeff Olson, retired teacher and coach and Daniel’s father is the presenter for the documentary. “Do It For Daniel” speaks to depression, anxiety and anti- suicide. Daniel Olson at age 19 lost his lifelong battle with anxiety and depression. The Olson family’s mission is to tell their family story, hoping to get rid of the stigma of mental illness so that people who struggle will be more comfortable coming forward and seeking help.
This presentation was created to educate people about the impact depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses have on people and their families and to create dialogue for help. Through education we believe we can help stop the stigma of mental illness.
It is the goal that through this presentation we can give HOPE to individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety and other forms of mental illness so that it can be treated through the power of education, love, strength, understanding and caring.
“Do It For Daniel” presentations will be at the Forest Park Schools on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 12:30 for grades 6-12.
A free of charge presentation will be held at Young’s Recreational Complex on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 5:30 for community members.
Two presentations will be held at the West Iron County Schools on Wednesday Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. for grades 6-8 and at 1:10 p.m. for grades 9-12.
The Iron Area Health Foundation strongly encourages all interested community members to attend the presentation at 5:30 on Feb. 8 at Young’s.
