IRON RIVER — The West Iron District Library announced that it will hold a Fairytale Writing Challenge in February for all ages, students to adults.
“Creative writing is good for the mind and spirit, and also makes for a great winter activity,” said Erika Sauter, Program Coordinator. “Plus, we’re celebrating National Tell a Fairytale Day on Feb. 25.”
Participants can pick up a writing prompt or make up their own. Submitted fairytales will be compiled, printed and be available to take home at the Tell A Fairytale Celebration on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 11a.m.-Noon, along with themed treats, crafts for kids and a selection of the submissions read aloud.
“This is something individuals can do on their own or families can do together,” explained Sauter, “and each participant will get a fun prize just for submitting a story.” Stories should be typed and limited to under 1,000 words. Submissions are due by Feb. 18 and can be either dropped off or emailed to esauter@westironlib.org.  For more information, contact the West Iron District Library at 906-265-2831 or stop by the circulation desk located at 116 W. Genesee Street.
