IRON RIVER — The 2023 Michigan Notable Books Author Tour is making a stop in Iron County and will be at the West Iron District Library on Tuesday, May 23 at 6 p.m.  Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Michigan Notable author, Jeff Morrison, who will present on his 2023 Michigan Notable Books winner, “Guardians of Michigan.” The book is a profile of the extraordinary architectural sculpture found in both the pleasant peninsulas of the Great Lakes State.
Morrison spent years exploring Michigan’s largest cities and smallest towns, using telephoto photography to capture the sculptural details hidden from the naked eye, and researching the beautiful historic architecture he encountered. Organized alphabetically by city, each section documents the history and design of an individual building, accompanied by beautiful photos of the building and its unique ornamentation.
Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase. The presentation is offered at no cost and is open to the community. A library card is not needed to attend and registration is not required. Free refreshments will be offered following the program.
For more information, contact the West Iron District Library at 906-265-2831 or stop by the circulation desk located at 116 W. Genesee Street.
