CRYSTAL FALLS – For the second year in a row, Iron County is encouraging local businesses and households in all municipalities to display a green light in their windows or entryway in support of local veterans.
“Operation Green Light for Veterans” is overseen by the National Association of Counties. It asks the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes and boroughs to light their buildings green the week leading up to Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11.
The county received special bulbs and colors to use for the campaign last year, and encourages other local residents and businesses to participate by switching one visible bulb in their buildings to green or an interior light to spark conversation with friends.
“The veteran population in Iron County is significant and the legacy of support for the vets and their organizations run deep and strong in Iron County,” read a county news release on the campaign.
The county courthouse will be closed in observance of Veteran’s Day on Friday, Nov. 10. More information about Operation Green Light for Veterans is available at naco.org.
