IRON RIVER – TV6 will host its holiday food drive for non-perishable foods through the end of November. ‘Canathon’ information posters and collection boxes can be found at local grocery stores, banks, local businesses and at the St Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Iron River.
Suggested items include cereal, peanut butter, pasta, rice, canned beans and vegetables, muffin or cake mix, soup and chili.

“The TV6 Canathon began in 1982 with about 700 pounds of food being donated to help local food pantries that first year,” according to its website. “Since the event began, the people of Upper Michigan have donated more than 5 million pounds of food to their local food pantries.”

All food collected in a community through the TV6 Canathon stays in that community. The Canathon runs through Dec. 1.
