CRYSTAL FALLS — Rose Chiesa, 102, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020, at Iron County Medical Care Facility.

Rose was born on Oct. 11, 1917, in Crystal Falls, daughter of Miklos and Irene (Novak) LaBay. She graduated from Crystal Falls High School, and in 1942 she married Albert Bisinger, a WWII soldier who died in combat in France in 1945. In 1957, she married Ray Chiesa, also a WWII veteran. A lifelong resident of Crystal Falls, she was a lunchroom aide for Forest Park Schools well into her 70s. She was also a member of Musicale, the VFW, the Legion Auxiliary, the Guardian Angels Guild and was an Iron County Medical Care Facility volunteer. She enjoyed golfi ng, bowling, and helping and donating her time or homemade food. She especially enjoyed working at the Bass Festival with the Lion’s Club and marching in the parades to honor soldiers and our country. Most of all, she enjoyed visiting with her family. She was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church.

Rose is survived by a daughter, Marlene (Don) Johnson of Livonia; a sister, Margaret Smithson of Alpha; two grandchildren, Leah (Troy) Schaff and Deanna Johnson (Michael Shereda); and three great-grandchildren, Tanner Schaff, Keeton Schaff and Jimmy Shereda.

Along with her parents and husbands, Albert and Ray, Rose is preceded in death by her brothers, Ernest LaBay, Miklos LaBay and Edward LaBay; and her sisters, Mary Trojan and Irene Chencinski.

Memorial Mass for Rose will take place at Guardian Angels Catholic Church with Father Dan Malone offi ciating. Services for Rose will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
