Dear Fair Kids,
Every year it seems to amaze me how quickly fair comes and goes.   After many years of enjoying fair week I decided to give you a few words about fair week.
• Get OFF your phone and soak it in, the animals, the time with your friends, and even working the food stand .
• Help the younger kids.  They are always watching and looking up to you.  Be the person they are going to grow up to be.
• Thank your parents!  They are helping you all year to have the best fair projects. I’m sure you and your parents have already had the annual fight about your projects that you were supposed to start months ago and now isn’t working out the way you planned.
• Remember it is one person’s opinion on one day! 4-H, Livestock Market, & FFA is NOT just about the ribbons and check at the end of the week, but the lessons learned in the barn, kitchen, garden and in the sewing room.
• Be proud of yourself no matter what.  Not many kids in the world can say they have an unbreakable bond with a 1300 lbs. animal, can sew, grow vegetables, or even make the most delicious baked goods.
.• And don’t forget to Thank EVERY volunteer you see. It takes a lot of people to make the fair so many fun memories.
This week will fly by and one day you’ll wake up and all those weeks at the fair will just be a memory you hold tight in your heart.
Signed,
A former FFA Fair Kid
