To the editor:
Years ago, my husband and I participated in the meal program offered at the Crystal Falls Senior/Community Center.
We did this for two reasons: One, we were new to the community and wanted to meet people; and two, because just maybe we would need those services as we got older.
Well, as fate would have it, I am now medically homebound for the next several months and truly need the meal service.
The Crystal Falls Senior Center has a volunteer, Carol, who generously delivers delicious meals to the medically homebound citizens. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would need these services — but I do.
Each community — Alpha, Amasa, Iron River and Crystal Falls — has a Senior Center. Check the newspapers, your church bulletins, listen to Telephone Time or just call your local center for the menus.
My message: Support your local senior center. Our taxes in Iron County supports these programs. Use them or we might someday lose them for lack of participation.
