IRON RIVER — The Iron County Lakes and Streams Partnership and the Invasive Species Control Coalition of Watersmeet sponsored an event in late May to promote the understanding of good lake stewardship and its importance to bird populations.
John Bates led a walk along the Apple Blossom Trail to observe and discuss the related bird species and their habitats.
The two groups are co-sponsoring other events this summer.
On July 14 at 6:30 p.m. a virtual event will be held entitled “Shoreline Health and Preservation.” Jo Latimore and Erik Elgin of MiCorps Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program will present.
“Painting on the Shoreline” will be held July 19-23 and a concert at Chicaugon Lake is scheduled for July 24. The Land O’ Lakes Car Park Music Event will be held on Aug. 12.
Updates and details of the events will be posted to both groups’ Facebook pages: Iron County Lakes and Streams Partnership or Watersmeet Lakeguards – ISCCW.
