CRYSTAL FALLS – The Lady Trojans basketball team dropped their record to one win against 6 losses, falling to Super Central 48 to 37 on Jan. 3.
Although the team “Did a lot of good things defensively and gave themselves opportunities to score, the shots didn’t fall,” stated Coach Kim Bjork.
While the ladies continue to grow through every game, the inconsistency in many aspects of the game are indicative of a young team which is eager to compete, but still learning to play at a level beyond their present ability.
Shooting only 22% from the floor compared to Superior Central’s 46%, the Trojans held it close through the first quarter, but fell behind by nine heading into halftime and were not able to overcome the deficit. The eleven-point loss was the closest the Trojans have come this year in a losing effort and, as the margin narrows, the team remains hopeful they can swing the momentum and garner a few more wins.
Lauren Kudwa shot 60% from the three point arc and led the team with ten points, while Lily Post chipped in 9 and the freshmen guard, Elsie Williams contributed 8.
