CRYSTAL FALLS – The boys’ eighth grade basketball team at Forest Park is a perfect 7 and 0!
Under the leadership of coach Kurt Anderson, the team is not only good, but in the words of their coach, “Super talented and coachable.”
Having worked together for several years, the team  has ten players, several of whom play AAU basketball over the summer. “They put in the time and play as a team,” stated their coach. While the boys were successful in seventh grade, they are improving and staying competitive as they move forward.  With a number of strong athletes including Vic Giuliani who contributes twenty points per game, Dax Huuki, who was selected to represent the United States on an international travel team and Izaiah Tarter who won the U.P. Cross Country Championship for eighth grade, the team has the pieces to keep the Trojans competitive for many years to come.
Their closest game this year has been a buzzer beater by Izaiah Tarter against a very competitive Kingsford team. In a perfectly designed play the bucket rescued their only close game and kept them humble enough to recognize perfect seasons regardless of the level don’t come easily.
With three games remaining before the postseason tournament begins on Dec. 12, the excitement is building for what is possible.
