CRYSTAL FALLS – The Forest Park Trojans boys basketball team have made a come back, after starting the season 1-4. The team has won it’s last four games in a row and are presently sporting a record of five wins and four losses.  The momentum has shifted and the team is playing up to its potential. Coach Jason Price could not have been happier after themost recent victory on Jan. 24 over North Dickinson, 63-15.
“We are starting to get some games under our belt, starting to defend really well and are being patient on offense,” Price said after the victory.
In a game which was never in much question, the Trojans were firmly in command as they demonstrated patience on offense, a stifling defense and strong ball-control skills which were used to gain open shots for Gavin Rintala (14 points), Kevin Giuliani (12 points), Grayson Sundell (10) and Sam McKissack (9 points).
The lopsided victory resulted in a final score of 63-15, and when combined with recent victories over Bark River Harris (79-38) and Gwinn (59-33), have the team playing some of the best basketball Forest Park has fielded for several years.
With eight players scoring in both of their most recent games, the Trojans have a balanced attack which is unselfish and does not rely on one or two players to carry the team.  While the starters are playing strong basketball, the bench points have been significant in their winning streak.  Bench points are an indication of how deep your talent is on a team and it is clear Forest Park’s talent goes deep.
The Trojans will have the opportunity to avenge some of the losses incurred earlier in the season with rematches against Florence and Norway in February. Both teams previously defeated the Trojans and are playing well. If the Trojans can find a way to victory, this team could make a deep run in the playoffs.
