IRON RIVER – The 14U B Bantam Ice Hawks competed in the District 8 Playoffs Feb. 10-12, in Iron Mountain.
They faced the Escanaba Hawks in Game 1 on Friday and came away with a 3-1 win. They took on the Iron Range Miners Saturday morning and came away with a 4-0 victory, followed by a win again Manistique later in the day with a score of 3-2.
The Ice Hawks advanced to the Semi-Finals Sunday morning and challenged the DAHA Iron Kings. The Ice Hawks won the contest 7-0, earning them a spot in the District 8 Championship game against the Escanaba Hawks. The Ice Hawks battled hard through what was a close game all through the first and second periods but pulled away in the third to take home the District 8 Championship with a 7-4 victory.
With their strong clean sweep of the tournament, the Ice Hawks now advance to the 14U B Bantam State Finals in Kalkaska, March 10-12. The season record for the Ice Hawks going into Districts was 30-7-1.
