IRON RIVER - The West Iron County High School Bowl Team notched another victory on Feb. 25 by defeating nine other teams at the Michigan Tech NAQT Quiz Bowl Tournament.
“We won every game,” said Joel VanLanen, WIC High School Bowl coach. “We had the most points per game in the tournament.”
WIC faced off against much larger schools like Marquette, and still came away undefeated. Other schools represented at the tournament were Houghton, Jeffers, Ishpeming, Calumet and Crivitz. Marquette, Houghton and Crivitz each fielded two teams.
The WIC High School Bowl Team’s string of victories previously qualified them for the national championship competition in Chicago, Illinois, April 28-30.
