INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. — Mary Jeanne McIntosh died peacefully, of natural causes, on June 26 at her home in Florida. She had celebrated her 99th birthday in March.

Mary Jeanne Poirrier was born in Iron River on March 20, 1921, to Louis and Rose (Jolly) Poirrier. She was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, where she was the church organist for 40 years. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating in 1939. After graduation, she worked as the secretary in the school office. During this time, she met a young teacher, Andrew McIntosh, who became the love of her life. She and Mac married on Oct. 2, 1946 and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary prior to his death in June of 2009.

Mary Jeanne was a very proud wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Andrew (Gerry) McIntosh of Florida; and daughters, Jeanne (Larry) Isaacs of Madison, and Ann of Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kris Isaacs, Alicia (Justin) Rake, Nick Isaacs (Hamza Tirida), Andrew McIntosh, Erich McIntosh and Adam (Lauren) McIntosh; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Emma and Braden McIntosh. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, her Chilean family and so many who knew and loved her as “Mom” or “Grandy”.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Gabriel and Joseph; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Eva (John) Mahon, Rose (Walter) Johnson, Viola (Ed) Moyle and Emma (Art) Gustafson; her Chilean “son” Oscar and his daughter; nieces and nephews and many friends.

She lived a full and happy life, spending 25 winters on South Padre Island, Texas and more recently in Indian Rocks Beach. She loved to travel, play the piano, knit, read and was always ready for a good card game (especially bridge). She will always be remembered standing at the door of her home with a beautiful, warm and welcoming smile, ready to make you feel right at home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
