Three Lady Trojans honored by league

CRYSTAL FALLS — Three Forest Park Lady Trojans were among the all-conference Skyline Central volleyball teams as selected by league coaches.
    Junior middle hitter Gracie Peterson was picked to the second team, junior setter Rayven Jacobsen was given honorable mention and senior Macy Johnson was honored with the league’s individual sportsmanship award for the Lady Trojans, who finished 2-8 in the abbreviated season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
    The player of the year was senior Taylor Kedsch of Carney-Nadeau, the defensive specialist was junior Ashton Hord of North Dickinson and the coach of the year was Steve Kedsch of Carney-Nadeau.
    Munising was given the team sportsmanship award.
    The SCC first team consisted of seniors Haley Ernest and Liana Blahnik of Carney Nadeau, junior Riley Johnson of Superior Central, senior Paige Cappaert of Stephenson, junior Tressa Ives of Bark River-Harris, junior Kassandra Cary of North Dickinson and senior Olivia Stanchina of Norway.
    Joining Peterson on the second team were junior Logan Peters of Munising, senior Justine Havelka of Stephenson, sophomore Carley Varoni of Bark River-Harris, junior Mackenzie Walcher of Carney-Nadeau, junior Addie Christoff of Rapid River and senior Allison Richer of Bark River-Harris.
    The honorable mention list also includes senior Selena Britton of Bark River-Harris, junior Chrislyn Inglese of North Dickinson, junior Gabby Moss of Rapid River, senior Emily Goodacre of Rapid River, senior Gena Anders of Stephenson, junior Emma Rutter of Superior Central, junior Maggie Rondeau of Superior Central and junior Charlotte Charlebois of Superior Central.
    The Skyline Central Large School champion was Bark River-Harris, which finished 5-1 in the league. The small school champion was Carney-Nadeau, which won finished unbeaten at 8-0.
