Trojans open track season with two meets

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Forest Park track teams opened their 2021 seasons with the Niagara Invite on April 29 and the North Dickinson Invite on May 4.
After a year’s absence because of Covid-19 restrictions, the Trojans got underway with a pair of fourth-place finishes in Niagara.
On the boys side, Mason Rintala was impressive as the freshman won three events, including the 800 (2:14.81), 1,600 (4:52.80) and the 3,200 (11:00.26).
Also for Forest Park, senior Hunter Reed recorded two thirds, in both the 100 and the 400. Junior Tim McKissack placed third in the 110 hurdles, while the 1,600 relay (no names reported) also took third.
The Lady Trojans were paced by freshman Charlie Larson, who took second in the 300 hurdles. Other top-three finishers for the FP girls included sophomore Riley Van Sickle (110 and 300 hurdles), freshman Tatum Clark (1,600 and 3,200).
In the team standings, North Dickinson won the girls trophy, while Norway captured the boys. At North Dickinson, the Trojan boys placed fourth, while the FP girls finished fifth. Florence-Niagara captured the boys trophy, while North Dickinson brought home the girls championship.
For FP boys, Rintala won the middle and long distances races again, taking the 800 (2:14.5), the 1,600 (4:53.6) and the 3,200 (10:52.0).
Junior Vincent Curtis place third in the shot put (29-½), while McKissack took third in the long jump (16-10½).
The Lady Trojans were led by Clark and Larson. Clark took second in both the 1,600 (6:39.3) and the 3,200 (14:49.5). Larson placed second in the 400 (1:13.0) for the other FP top-three finish.
