CRYSTAL FALLS – The Forest Park Trojans won decisively over North Dickinson 54–16 and are standing at 3–0 heading into a clash of the undefeated against Norway on Friday, Sept. 16.
While the score was lopsided in favor of the Trojans, the Nordics garnered 241 offensive yards including 184 through the air.
The defense rose to the occasion when needed to keep the score in favor of Forest Park but surrendering significant yardage could be a challenge as the Trojans go deeper into the season.
“We missed a couple of coverages,” Coach Brian Fabbri acknowledged, “but we will be working on that this week.”
While the powerhouse running back Sam McKissack continued to impress with four touchdowns and 226 yards on just 12 carries, the team is actively focusing on spreading the offense and creating more weapons to keep their defensive rivals at bay.
Seven different players were asked to run the ball at least once while four carried at least three times. While none of the other backs saw significant yardage, they did manage to keep the defense honest and open space for McKissack. Payton Woollard and Reagan Alder carried four touchdowns while sophomore Brody Starr had a long run of 14 yards.
In a promising development, the passing game is starting to materialize with quarterback Payton Woollard a perfect 3 for 3 for 61 yards.
“We will see more passing as we go deeper into the season,” Fabbri said. “Woollard is clearly looking more comfortable as the season progresses.”
The team’s performance against Norway will go a long way to determining just how good the Trojans are this year and if we can expect them to be playing in the Superior Dome come this November.
