CRYSTAL FALLS – With their most recent victory on Tuesday, Sept. 12, the Lady Trojans volleyball team remains unbeaten with a perfect 4–0 record.
In a closely contested match with the Nordics of North Dickinson, the Trojans were able to overcome a number of uncharacteristic unforced errors and emerge victorious in three sets 25-21, 25-22 and 25-18.
Coach Bobbie Anderson captured the challenges of the evening by stating,
“We were hot and cold tonight,” said Coach Bobbie Anderson. “We looked great at times and other times we were scrambling to run our offense. We had too many missed serves and unforced errors.”
Quickly going up by six points at the start of the first game, the team stumbled and fell behind to the Nordics.  While clearly the better team, the Trojans were not in sync but fortunately were able to right the ship to remain unbeaten. Charlie Larson, who finished the match with 21 assists, seven digs and two aces was confident in her team.
“We started out slow, but we finished strong and came together for the win,” she said.
Ava Fischer led the team in aces with five, Ema Stepien added nine kills and Ashlynn Kannich contributed nine digs.
There is no question this is a strong team with an excellent record and the potential to go deep in the playoffs. A second consecutive District Championship should not be a stretch, but to take the Regional the unforced errors will have to decrease. With a strong coaching staff and great team spirit, it’s not too early to get excited for the Lady Trojans.
The Lady Trojans next match against Stephenson will be at home on Thursday, Sept. 22 beginning at 5 p.m.
