CRYSTAL FALLS — Iron County Ducks Unlimited will hold its 42nd banquet to help support its habitat programs on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Young’s Recreational Complex. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at 1st National Underwriters Insurance X-treme Outdoors in Iron River and Superior Sport and Feed in Crystal Falls and from any committee member. Tickets must be purchased by Oct. 18.
As in the past, the evening will feature a host of activities - raffles, games and a silent auction, including a grand door price of a kayak package, as well as other quality prize guns, limited artwork, unique Ducks Unlimited products, Ducks Unlimited gun of the year, and the popular commemorative “Jim Sapletal shotgun”.
“Today we are losing wetlands at an alarming rate and to date the United States has lost more than one half of our wetlands,” Ducks Unlimited Chairperson Dan French said. “We continue to lose more than 100,000 acres of wetlands every year.”
French said that since 1937, Ducks Unlimited has been restoring, protecting and managing North America wildlife habitats and wetlands. He added that Ducks Unlimited has restored and protected more than 15 million acres of wetlands and other critical wildlife habitats across North America, with over 13,000 acres in the U.P.
“Hunters do more to conserve habitat than any other group,” French said. “Doing the right thing has it rewards - duck flying and habitat to hunt. All of this is brought to you by outdoor enthusiasts like you and Ducks Unlimited.
“Join us for a wonderful evening with friends and for a great cause for wildlife.”
